Glass Bead Artisan Amy Kuczewski 12.30.14

Today's featured artisan is "Flamey" Amy Kuczewski of Torch by Night Beads. Amy's work has created quite a bidding frenzy of late in the Facebook groups. While Amy makes many styles of beads, today we are highlighting her use use of the moonwalk press.  While the basic shape is a half moon, Amy uses the press as a jumping off point to create so much more.  We hope you enjoy taking a look at her work! Glass Bead fans, we are continuing our look at some of the most amazing artists working in glass today.  Today we are featuring the work of Jill Symons of Autstin, Tx. Jill is renown for the use of transparent glasses in her work. She experiments with shape and color in the transparent realm. Glass Bead Artisan Lydia Muell 12.28.14

Hello fans! We'll get to our show down below but first, let's take a look at today's featured Glass Bead Artisan is Lydia Muell of Lampwork Treasures. Her work is multi-layered perfection! Elaborate floral motifs are a frequent theme, as is silver glass and sparkling goldstone. Lydia's focals are large and spectacular, but check out her perfume bottle! And the doll is for a snowglobe.

Lampwork Artisan Amber Ballard 12.27.14

We are continuing our look at some of the most admired glass bead artisans. Today we're featuring the work of Wisconsin artist, Amber Ballard, a/k/a That Bead Girl.  Amber is known for her bubble beads. This style of work take tremendous patience and heat control! Her transitional color beads are also quite popular and just stunning to look at.

Glass Bead Artisan Ikuyo Yamanaka 12.26.14

Today we are exploring the work of glass bead artist Ikuyo Yamanka of Coquitlam, British Columbia. Ikuyo is known for her use of murrini. She makes her own flower murrini and sells tutorials to enable other glassers to do it too. Ikuyo uses the petal motif in larger designs such as the free form piece in the first photo and the round bead in the last. Natural looking flowers are a constant theme for Ikuyo, as well as the use of silvered glasses.

Glass Bead Artisan Suzan Ranew 12.23.14

Friends and Fans of Glass Beads Daily: Your hostess is having shoulder surgery today and our focus will shift this week from beads for sale to artisan profiles. We will have our header artist salute tomorrow and will have our holiday listings as usual on Saturday and will return to regular programming on the 10th.  Our artisans will still be sharing their works for sale below.

Today we are taking a look at the fabulous glass bead creations of Suzan Ranew of Dallas, Texas. Her owl beads have been featured in several of  The Flow magazine's Women in Glass issues. Her seashell beads are fantastical and stunning. The dotted Pandora beads she creates cause frenzies in the Glass Bead sale pages on Facebook.

Suzan is also known for her Day of the Dead Sugar Skull beads. Check out those teeny tine cubic zirconia teeth - perfectly placed!! And the larger ones in the eyes! The back of the bead is a more traditional sugar skull and that's not all... the base is made of glow in the dark glass! Suzan's links are below:
